Recommended Kit List

Forest Essentials

We do not affiliate with anyone clothing provider. Any recommendations come from our own personal experience. Where possible we would encourage you to buy second hand.

We will be outdoors all day, every day, come rain or shine!

To ensure our children are comfortable and prepared, please bring the items listed below to nursery every day, labelled with your child's name and leave valuables at home.

Please note: we would ask you to drop the children off dressed in their waterproofs everyday (unless it is extremely warm)

On sunny days, we ask you to apply a first layer of sunscreen before you drop your child off. We will then apply every 3-4 hours or as required. If you'd prefer to provide your own sunscreen just let the team know.

OUR CLOTHING RECOMMENDATIONS

FEET

In average weather we recommend wellies with 2 pairs of socks. The bottom a thin cotton sock then top sock a thick wool or fluffy bed sock, similar to those sold next to the checkout at H&M or Heat holder socks are amazingly toasty!

Warm wellies are our recommended wellies until it’s properly cold

When it gets very cold Happy Little Soles are for Mikk-Line and Melton Thermal boots, the Bundgaard Sailor boots and the Bogs Neo Classic.

We also love Bogs child-friendly boots, perfect for wet weather days, click here for Bogs website.

HEADS

A good hat is a must and JoJo Maman Bébé have lovely warm ones, although they aren't waterproof. However, we can always pop their hoods up on those occasional wet days.

HANDS

We suggest thick, waterproof ski gloves. We have found that Didriksons do very good mittens for cold weather. Although, we have discovered that most children don't like the curtailment of freedom that they feel in such bulky gloves, so, alternatively, we recommend a multipack of woollen gloves such as these, available to buy online from H&M. They are great for ensuring children can still play freely and we can change them if they become wet.

On really cold days, fleece mittens on top of the woollen gloves will help keep the children's hands extra warm.
